Here’s to things that aren’t impossible…

on

What is impossible for you? Take five seconds to make a mini list in your head. Since I have been back I have heard, read and quite frankly thought a lot about things being ‘impossible’ and ‘unachievable,’ thoughts that never really crossed my mind during my brief stint stateside. I do think theres something more negative about some peoples attitude in this country, which is fine, for them. I absolutely cannot stand when someone starts telling me that something is unrealistic or that ‘I really should do this…’. My answer to that is ‘You do you and I will do me’. A question crossed my mind this week, which lead me to write this today is: Why are the things I love and want classed as being ‘a dream’ or impossible, even in my own head?

“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” –  Christopher Reeve

I shared the above quote yesterday as I was planning what to write about today. It speaks true of what goes on in my head. The will to work hard and achieve is the one thing you need to accomplish anything. Settling for something is great, if you want to settle, I know that my life changes every few months with every new opportunity that comes along. So today, I am going to write a short list of things that are entirely possible in my life. And I say possible instead of definite because no one can predict what is coming.

  • It is entirely possible that I could write a book.
  • It is entirely possible that I could work as something other than an actor in WB Studios in LA.
  • It is entirely possible that I could eat less chocolate.
  • It is entirely possible that I could sing a Bb in a song… one day.
  • It is entirely possible that I could one day go sky diving
  • It is entirely possible that I will one day drive a car (watch out)
  • It is entirely possible that I will think of 20 more things to add to this list in the next month

For me, this list isn’t about life changing, pivotal decisions. Its not even stepping into the controversial land of affirmations and positive thinking. It just reminds me, when I’m feeling stuck (which is completely natural), that it is entirely possible that anything could happen and equally I have the power to make anything happen for me, and to some extent, the people around me.

So take that mini list that you made in your head and turn it round, make the impossible, possible. I grew up believing and being constantly told (thanks Laura) that there was no such word as ‘can’t’. Today, I will say theres no such word as impossible.

Apologies for the re-use of this graphic.. It is so perfect here though!

Thank you for reading today! Please comment and tell me what you think… what are your thoughts on ‘the impossible’? Have a brilliant weekend! Jake xx

Well Jake you know my thoughts on this! How many times did we meet children with the same struggles as you that said no I can’t instead of yes I can! You always were and always will be a ‘Yes I can’ type of guy but there are times when the possible seems a little hard and far away – but at times like we all have to remind ourselves that yes anything is POSSIBLE!!!! The possible will never happen to people that don’t believe in it!
