Just the answers…

I would like to start off by saying that I in fact stole this idea from Mara Wilsons Blog because I enjoyed reading it so much, so full credit goes to her. Today I am going to answer 50 questions from my younger self without telling you the questions. This goes hand in hand with one of my previous posts ‘The Letters Project.’ I have been so excited to write this post so I hope you enjoy it.

Growing Up

Dear 13 year old Jake,

  1. No you are not, thats not really you anymore. Singing is still a huge part of your life though so don’t worry!
  2. Again no, I know you think you will never leave – but there will come a day when you will want to. You now live in London! On your own, which will be a shock to you, I think.
  3. Yes you have!
  4. Sixteen, so just wait my friend.
  5. Sad to say, yes you do! Some things will never change!
  6. You are! Jay will forever be in your life, I can say that very confidently at this point.
  7. I know you were expecting to, but no you never became that ‘teenager’. You still love your parents.
  8. Sadly, no. You have seen him a bunch more times though!
  9. Musical Theatre! That is the dream but there are many dreams that will develop over the next few years for you Jake. Pay attention! They are all important.
  10. Only to cats! Dust Allergies left you when you moved away from Spain, THANK GOD!
  11. Yes, everyone does?! Right?
  12. They Have!! Your a shortarse now, believe it or not. So stop wishing to stop growing, idiot!
  13. I think you should read this blog and tell me. Also, Top of the year for your English coursework makes a few people eat their hats.
  14. Things have changed a bit, but for the most part yes.
  15. Many many things. Life is a journey and I think one of your big accomplishments is that you now know this. Its not always going to be fabulous, but its what you take from the ride that matters. Plus you are currently sat in NYC on your own.. I think thats an achievement don’t you?
  16. In a way, but for the most part no. You do voiceovers though!
  17. That song will forever haunt me. No.
  18. Nope, still don’t like them. Too jumpy for that.
  19. Yes you swear too fucking much.
  20. No, still not tried it. You angel you.
  21. Yes they are still in your life. You will become grateful for the support system they provide.
  22. For now, London. But later in life.. NYC, somewhere sunny? Who knows?
  23. Unfortunately, Benji died. Poor little doggy.
  24. You successfully rode a bike ONCE, you have not attempted it again.
  25. Not yet, I am hopeful though!
  26. Like I said its a roller coaster. Ups and Downs but you will learn to accept it even more. My best advice to you is to ignore the comments, people don’t mean to be that way.
  27. I would say quite well. School has been useful to you in may ways. Theres is a time for school and a time to be free. Your time is coming.
  28. Not really, which makes me sad. The memories will forever be there! Our younger selves were really cute!
  29. MSN died.
  30. Anything musical theatre. I am currently listening to If/ Then because it closed yesterday (#geek)
  31. No you didn’t go to university, that wasn’t right for you.
  32. Not quite yet. God Jake your only 21!
  33. Three, not counting spin the bottle. Wow, you need to get out more.
  34. You are answering these questions in a Starbucks at Union Square. I know, crazy right?
  35. I don’t think you are a rebel in any sense of the word.
  36. You don’t live in Spain anymore but you and Holly have become good friends, partly due to your love of chocolate.
  37. You are getting there.
  38. Yes, sadly.
  39. Like I said, the time for learning is coming to an end. You are excited about life.
  40. Nope, chocolate is still a problem.
  41. Blue! Still your favourite colour.
  42. Another question about this! God, You are! Somewhat.
  43. You will forever have ‘Grandad Jake’ inside you. But you are getting better.
  44. You did, but that doesn’t really matter to you anymore.
  45. No but chill.
  46. Yes! But you kinda work with them now so its not such a big thing!
  47. No, you are no longer the youngest, the family has expanded more than you know you are an uncle four times over and a cousin to MILLIONS!
  48. Not at the moment.
  49. No you did not become a teenage superstar, but thats the dream in your twenties! (Ha!)
  50. Thats the million dollar question, Yes I am happy, very happy. My life is incredible. This is thanks to a number of people including my parents, my family and close friends. But I wouldn’t be anywhere without you, my angel in the sky, Aunty Shirley. I know if heaven had an internet connection, you’d be reading this. I am so thankful for everything you have done for me and I think about you every day. Say hi to Benji and Max for me, and give nan her fags back while your at it!

Love your 21 year old self xx

Thanks for reading, this has actually been quite eye opening. Change is amazing yet scary, challenging yet fulfilling. I don’t think my 12/13 year old me could have predicted life as it is now. How exciting is that?
